Find a Motel or Hotel In Belmar, N.J.

The shore town of Belmar, New Jersey, is one-square mile located between a wide, white beach and a marina. Belmar was built by a group of investors who wanted to build a summer community for the great fishing and cool sea breezes. They name the town "Ocean Beach" in 1872 but was changed 17 years later to Belmar which is French for "Beautiful Sea". One year later hundreds of summer visitors came. They stayed at The Ocean Beach House or The Columbia or one of the other 16 hotels that were built. The largest hotel took up an entire block, call The Atlantic, but burned in 1972.

Belmar built up more by adding ice cream parlors (1893) and shooting galleries. Fisherman came and rented the rental boats and bought bait that was up for sale around town. By the early 1990's, Belmar became a top resort destination of the Northeast.

Come to Belmar for it's beautiful beaches and it's nightlight. There is plenty of choice from a variety of fine accommodations. Choose from quaint bed and breakfasts inns or fine hotels to suit your needs.
